Roman Nahornyi: Impressions of Mödling
On Sunday, 2 August, Art Gallery Spiritissima welcomed visitors to the opening of “Roman Nahornyi: Impressions of Mödling”.
Following an introduction to the artist’s work and a short
film from his hometown titled “Mykolaiv in War and Peace”, guests enjoyed an improvised dance performance. The lively conversation with the artist continued for so long that the buffet did not open until two and a half hours after the event began.
The opening also featured a book project with graphic works by Roman Nahornyi. Alongside Mödling, it brings together impressions of Vienna, Dresden, Lviv, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv.
Roman Nahornyi was deeply inspired by Mödling and its unique atmosphere.
He extended his stay for another week to continue working here.
The photographs below capture a few moments from this memorable afternoon.
A selection of the artist’s works can be viewed below.

Art Gallery Spiritissima opened its doors on 30 January 2022
at 4 p.m. with an exhibition featuring “early works” by Ute Eisenberg and “Am Kanal” by Karin Ritter-Ostermann.
The programme also included dance performances by Josef Ka (RU and FI) and Vimprodaco – Vienna Improvisations Dance Company.
Even before the gallery opened, the space regularly hosted dance training sessions, performances and evenings of live music.
